The David Green House, Jones County, NC
Built in 1832, the David Green House stands as a beautiful reminder of Eastern North Carolina’s rich history. Today, it is being lovingly restored into a family home by descendants of David Green himself—a labor of love that ensures its story will continue for generations to come.
I had the honor of visiting this remarkable home and receiving a personal tour from the gracious owners. Their kindness and hospitality made the experience even more special, and it was clear how much pride they take in preserving their family’s legacy. My two sons came along for the visit, making it a truly memorable day for all of us.
We were also greeted by Wesley, their sweet and friendly Goldendoodle, who happily posed for a few of my photos. He might not be part of the house’s 19th-century history, but he certainly added to the warmth and charm of the afternoon.
This home holds a special place in my heart—it was one of the very first old houses I photographed after moving to North Carolina in 2019. To finally step inside, walk its creaking floors, and see its restoration in progress was nothing short of inspiring.
